DIY CAT-NISS EVERDEEN HALLOWEEN COSTUME
October 25, 2017
Do you not have a creative Halloween costume and no money or time to do it if you did? Well, with just household items you can become Cat-niss Everdeen in minutes.
What you will need:
Black eyeliner
Scissors
Coat hanger
Duct tape
String
Pencil
Knife
Glue
Hair tie
Cardboard or paper
Bobby pins (optional)
Attire
Black shirt of choice
Boots
Olive green jeans (regular jeans will work too)
First things first, in order to accomplish the Cat-niss pun, take black eyeliner and create a cat look on your face.
Now that you have created the cat look for the pun, it’s time to move on to Katniss’s bow and arrow
Step #1.
First, take your coat hanger, and with scissors carefully cut off the bottom part and hook. If needed, use your knife to smooth the edges.
Step # 2
Wrap the duct tape around the middle of the hanger to form a handle.
Then, tie the string at the top and the bottom. Make sure to hold the string tight while following to the bottom. Cut off extra string with scissors.
Step #3
Wrap the pencils in duct tape to use for arrows.
Next, draw your arrow heads on cardboard or paper, then cut them out.
Step #4
Attach arrowhead to the arrow by glueing two together by the edges.
Next, attach the arrowhead to the end of the arrow.
The bow and arrow is now complete and should look like the picture below.
Now onto the hair.
It’s no doubt that Katniss’s braid is a key part in this costume as it stands out in the movie. The Dutch braid is very simple, as it is the same thing as a French braid, except instead of pulling the hair over the braid, you will pull the hair underneath.
Step #1
Take a chunk of hair, as little or big as wanted, then split into three smaller chunks.
Step # 2
Take the chunk of hair closets to the back of your head and pull it underneath the middle chunk.
Then, take the chunk closet to your face and pull it under the first chunk (that is underneath the middle).
Keep adding hair to each group like you would a French braid. Pull the chunk under the braid then over.
Step #3
Continue this the entire way down the back of your head. Make sure you pull the hair tightly so it will stay in place.
Step #4
The braid is now done! Add bobby pins if needed and a hair tie at the end of the braid.
Once you add the rest of the items to your costume the look is now complete. Happy Halloween and may the odds be ever in your favor!
