STRANGER THINGS

Spoiler alert! Do not read if you haven’t watched season one of Stanger Things. The first season of Stranger Things came to an end over a year ago, and with season two on its way, anxious fans are awaiting answers to vital questions they never got in season one.

The cliffhanger for the wildly popular Netflix Original Series Stranger Things was anything but boring.

Questions such as “What happened to Eleven?” and “Is Will okay?” circled around Stranger Things enthusiast’s minds as the final seconds of episode eight came to a close.

What Happened to Eleven?

When audiences around the world met Eleven for the first time and learned of her strange life, they immediately fell for her as the loveable, weirdo that she is.

Being a product of a government approved science experiment, Eleven has her quirks. She hardly even speaks: in season one she said a grand total of 246 words.

Throughout season one, Eleven desperately tried to explain to her newfound friends the whereabouts of Will, all while avoiding being captured by “bad men.”

At the end of the season, Eleven makes the ultimate sacrifice. She exhausts all of her mind powers to kill the Demagorgan, which in turn saved the lives of everyone that she loves.

The power she expelled caused her to evaporate into millions of pieces and completely disappear. But where did she go when she disintegrated? No one knows.

Some fans have created theories about Eleven’s disappearance, the most realistic being that when Sheriff Hopper was seen putting Eggos into a secret hidden box in the woods, it was a clue that Eleven was alive.

Eleven is alive, but where she is remains unknown. Is she lost in the woods? In the Upside Down? Or maybe she’s stuck between the two dimensions.

If she is in fact stuck between the darkness of the in-between, at least she’s safe…right?

P.S. If Eleven is the 11th experiment, there could be others just like her, named One through Ten.

Is Will okay?

Out of all of the cliffhangers in the finale, the creepiest and most worrisome was what started going down after Will was rescued from the Upside Down.

To the outside world, Will looked as if he was back to normal…so we thought. He excused himself from dinner and threw up a slimy black slug in the bathroom sink all whilst having a terrifying flashback from the Upside Down.

The slug creature was seen earlier in the season; it was the parasite that came out of Barb’s mouth when her body was found in the Upside Down.

Will spent a considerable amount of time in the Upside Down, a dimension no one knows much about. So, who knows what really occurred in that place.

Since the government entered the Upside Down wearing head to toe protective gear, it’s safe to assume that anyone who enters unprotected is in danger. This also includes Nancy, Joyce, and Hopper because they all took their helmets off.

Somehow, Will is still connected to the Upside Down, and infected with something.

P.S. The slug was still alive when Will threw it up, so it could easily spread through the little towns water supply.

P.P.S. Barb died from the slug, meaning Will could still be in danger.

What’s Actually Going on at Hawkins Lab?

The most nerve wracking, mind boggling event in the first season is the mystery of Hawkins Lab. There is clearly something fishy going on there, considering the entire building is a fortress.

At first, it seemed like it was the CIA or FBI running the labs, possibly as an attempt to spy on the Russians using Eleven’s abilities. Then, we found out that the lab was conducting controversial float tank experiments using LSD, (which is said to expand the mind).

Although this all may be true, what else is really occurring inside the well-protected building?

It is known that Dr. Brenner, who is now dead, didn’t know what the Demogorgon wanted other than food.

Brenner also didn’t know anything about the Upside Down…but why would someone accidently open a portal to another dimension?

Hawkins Lab had to intentionally create a veil that thin allowing the two worlds to connect.

Like the many other strange things going on there, the portal door opening was just the tip of the seemingly endless iceberg.

P.S. Other float tanks and rooms existed, meaning there is probably many more types of experiments.

Final Thoughts

The unanswered questions of Stranger Things have our brains bursting with possible theories and explanations.

The good news is, that Stranger Things season two will be returning to Netflix October 27, and hopefully our looming questions will soon be answered.
