BOY SCOUTS ADMITS GIRLS
October 10, 2017
Boy Scouts of America is one of the largest youth scouting organizations in the world, and had solely male members since the year 1910. Not anymore!
Recently, the National Organization for Women (NOFW) pushed the Boy Scouts of America to admit girls because their membership would like to achieve the Eagle Scout rank, one of the highest accomplishments a member can receive.
The Boy Scouts will begin to admit young 7-12-year-old girls in 2018 and older 13-19 girls in 2019. Both boys and girls will be given a choice to join a co-ed or a singular gender troop. The girls will begin as cub scouts, called “dens,” and the organization will have a separate program for older girls to earn the Eagle rank.
Girl Scouts currently belong to four scouting programs: venturing and sea scouting, outdoor activities, exploring a career-oriented mentoring program, and STEM.
