The Bangor v. Pen Argyl game may be over, but the rivalry season has not yet come to an end. The Slate Belt can expect another exciting rivalry game Friday, November 17 at the Bangor v. Pen Argyl Alumni Football game.

Both Bangor and Pen Argyl Alumni of all classes will strap on their gear and uniforms for one more rivalry game at 7 p.m. at Paul Farnan Field at Bangor Memorial Park.

“The feeling I have to be able to put the pads on one more time under the lights is unbelievable,” Bangor Alumni Dyvek Ott said. “Honestly, since the day we had our last game when I was in high school all I kept saying was, ‘I wish I could play one more game,’ well, now I’m getting the opportunity and it’s an honor. I’m looking forward to it more than anyone could ever know.”

Ott, a 2009 graduate, had the winning catch in the overtime Bangor v. Pen Argyl game his senior year that ended 7-0 Bangor.

The community will recognize faces of alumni of all ages on the field this Friday, but one on the sideline can not be forgotten. Bangor Class of 1991 Alumni Mark Hopstetter will be heading the Bangor Alumni team in this memorable game.

Once a player for Bangor, Hopstetter has high expectations for his team as he takes on the coaching position.

“They’re definitely committed,” Hopstetter said. “They’ve been working hard and they’re out to give 100%. It’s going to be a lot of fun seeing these guys put the pads on one more time.”

Hosted and organized by Alumni Football USA, the Bangor v. Pen Argyl game benefits the Bangor Slaters in many ways. Providing all equipment, necessary personnel, and tickets, neither school pays any money at all for the event.

In fact, both schools receive 50% of pre-sale admission ticket proceeds towards the youth football organizations and Bangor School district receives all proceeds from concession and raffle rights in exchange for hosting the game at their field.

Tickets are being sold for $10 and can be purchased to benefit the Bangor Slater Youth Football at Dinky’s, Platinum Cutz, Vinny’s Pizzeria, Horn’s Outdoor, Comunale’s Italian Market, or East Bangor Park. Children under the age of 10 are free of admission.
