HQ: ANSWER RIGHT, MAKE MONEY
December 8, 2017
Every once in a while, there will come that one app that captures the attention of users, and, after several hours, makes them question their life decisions.
Then there is HQ, which is so fast paced and high stress that you’ll question your life in the moment and well after.
An Apple App store exclusive, HQ is a trivia game like Trivia Crack, but *gasp* has the added benefit of winning money. Oh, and it’s live at 9 p.m. every day and 3 p.m. on the weekdays.
The astute individual that you are, you are rightly skeptical. The last time you had probably heard of winning easy money was deep in your spam folder.
Well, that is why I decided to investigate.
Alright, the app has been downloaded, and the first thing it asks for is a phone number. Weird… but who cares? You are about to win money.
Thereafter, the user will need to create a name. This name will be featured on their leaderboard so uh… be creative, unlike the totally arbitrary Mr.Young I go by.
Turn on do not disturb, set your phone on silent, because the world of HQ is now open.
HQ opens every day at 9p.m., as well as weekdays at 3 p.m., but the game does’t begin immediately, and will begin in a few moments. The game, however, is live, so be sure to enable notifications, or you may miss the opportunity to participate.
It consists of twelve questions, beginning very easy, and becoming quite difficult as they progress. I’m not kidding, the first question inflates your confidence, say “who lives in a pineapple under the sea” and by question three, your hopes and dreams are ultimately crushed: “which ingredient is not used to make sourdough bread.”
Once you lose, you will be gifted with an appropriate reminder of your failure—a game over screen. You can still watch the game, but you cannot select any more answers.
On the off chance that you happen to win money, you are going to need a PayPal account, as that it is how the app pays money to its winners.
I watched to the end at one point, and saw people take home $90!
There are multiple things that you should be aware of, not including your time wasted. Namely, the chat. It’s understandable, the host wants to communicate with fans, but I don’t think they wanted it to be this.
The chat is full of them. The chat floods with people, those that purposefully say the wrong answer and complain about it three questions after they originally got out.
When you are not distracted by the chat, it’s the game. The game tends to overfill, with over 300,000 people playing at once, causing the game to lag. This lagging has been known to cause game overs, broken screens, and disillusioned players.
Finally, excess money is great and all, but don’t be rash and quit your day job. The feasibility of answering all questions right, and doing this day in and day out is ridiculous.
Just no. Stop it. But do play, it’s a blast in the moment.
So the next time you feel bored and think that you don’t make enough money, head over to the app store and check out HQ.
Note: Mr. Madden says to use BRADiculous when you sign up so he gets lots of extra lives.
