BASS TO STUDY CUSTOMIZATION AND POWER SPORT
February 22, 2018
Whether she is shooting hoops for the Slaters or refurbishing vehicles, junior Eboni Bass achieves her goals one step at a time.
Bass’s love for cars was sparked by her father, grandfather, and a love of art.
“My dad and grandfather always motivated me to be a better version of myself in anything that I do and love anything with a motor in it, so my love for vehicles started to grow at a young age,” Bass said. “I also have a love for art, so I figured this would be a good trade for me to pursue with good money that comes along with it.”
Upon starting high school, Bass decided to expand her horizon by attending the Career Institute of Technology (CIT) to study Auto Collision and Refinishing Technology. This experience provided the opportunity to experiment with new ideas and opens more options regarding Bass’s future career.
“What made me want to get involved with CIT is that it is a big opportunity and it really makes you more mature,” Bass said. “It teaches you how to be a worker and it allows you to prepare yourself for the real world and the work force.”
After attending CIT for two years, Bass was selected to the National Technical Honor Society due to her community service, GPA, and excellent behavior.
“National Technical Honor Society is based off community service and what you can do to make CIT and your community a better place,” Bass said. “We raise money and make donations towards our veterans.”
With the skills she has learned from Auto Collision and Refinishing Technology, Bass plans to further pursue her career at Ohio Technical College, where she will study in the power sport program as well as the custom paint and graphics program.
“I can get my associates degree with Ohio Tech and attend the power sport institute and specific customization program,” Bass said.
In addition to her love for Auto Collision, Bass also has a sweet spot for basketball, softball, and powderpuff.
“My sports keep me occupied and I enjoy being social and interacting with people,” Bass said. “I love being on a team which kind of relates to how I work in the shop at CIT. I interact and work with people really well, which gets the job done quicker.”
With her family by her side through thick and thin, Bass will manage any obstacle she encounters.
