THE DEAD DON’T DIE (June 14, R)
If you’re interested in seeing The Dead Don’t Die, prepare yourself for zombies, zombies, and even more ZOMBIES! Then again, you may prefer to call them the walking dead, los muertos, rotting fodders, ghouls, Romero’s horde, white walkers, brain-eaters, the “zed” word, and so on, depending on what pops into your head when you think of them. Regardless of what they’re named, they’re coming… and the small town of Centerville is the target of their invasion. The hapless citizens, as they struggle to fend off the undead, are also faced with the mind-boggling mystery of why the the zombies gravitating towards things that they enjoyed while they were still among the living. Can an eccentric, katana-swinging mortician (Tilda Swinton), Officers Ronnie Peterson (Adam Driver) and Cliff Robertson (Bill Murray), and an average teenage girl (Selena Gomez) survive the coming apocalypse? Find out in theaters on June 14th.
The Dead Don’t Die, directed by Jim Jarmusch, is a must-watch for fans of not-so-serious zombie films that take the word “campy” as a compliment, such as Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead. It doesn’t hurt that Adam Driver of Star Wars fame is making an appearance as part of the main cast; after all, who wouldn’t find the idea of pseudo-sith Kylo Ren duking it out against a bunch of zombies awesome?
