SLATER SPOTLIGHT: GIOVANI SANTOS

Emma Naysmith, Editor in Chief

Throughout his time in high school, tech-savvy senior Giovani Santos participated in E-Sports Club and spent his days at CIT troubleshooting computers and setting up server networks. Santos will use the knowledge and experience gained from his two years at CIT to study networking and security at Northampton Area Community College.

Which teacher influenced you most or who will you remember most from Bangor?

Mr. Wehr and Mr. Egner both where amazing teachers!.

What is your best high school memory and why?

Going to CIT every day and being around new people and doing something I truly enjoy.

Which band could play the soundtrack to your high school career and why?

Imagine Dragons because they’re my favorite band and their music really keeps me going everyday.

When you arrive at school in the morning, where is the first place you want to go and why?

Wherever my friends were because they’re funny and its always great time when I’m with them.

Where do you predict you’ll end up ten years from now and why?

Working at some company in the field of networking and security because that’s what I like to do and that’s what I’m majoring in at NACC.

What is your favorite quote to live by and why?

“Fall forward. Every failed experiment is one step closer to success. You’ve got to take risks.” – Denzel Washington. I live by this because even if you’re trying to accomplish something and it doesn’t work in your favor, it just means you’re getting closer to completing your goal. Eventually it will work out if you keep trying and never give up.

What sparked your interest in technology?

Video games and following tech related Youtube channels .

Within the realm of E-Sports what was your biggest accomplishment?

We never played in an actual tournament, so me and my team just played together and had a great time.

What advice do you have for anyone who also wishes to pursue networking and security?

It’s not hard to learn, just take some time to practice the material especially if its hands on.

Do you think technology is too advanced for our own good?

Not yet, I think as tech gets better and easier to access, it’s only going to make the world a better place.  A place where we’re going to be able to do great things we couldn’t without it. The only downfall is that with so much technology people tend to become lazier than ever before.
