GET PSYCHED FOR SPIRIT WEEK

Emma Naysmith, Editor in Chief

The annual Bangor vs. Pen Argyl football game is right around the corner (October 31). As per Slater tradition, Spirit Week will be held the week leading to the infamous rivalry football game (October 23-30)—only with a twist.

Due to current circumstances the highly anticipated spirit week has been slightly tweaked. To give each set of students (Day A/Day B) the opportunity to participate in each theme will be repeated. Additionally, for the first time ever, the most spirited Slater will be rewarded a gift card prize. Here’s how to show your Slater pride and take down the Knights.

Friday 10/23 & Monday 10/26: Tacky Tourist Day

Covid may have kept us home this summer, so let’s take a virtual trip! Come to school dressing like you are that overly enthusiastic traveler we’ve all seen on vacation (who knows maybe that’s you and this will be your time to shine). Students should trade in their usual school attire of sneakers and sweats to wear overwhelming florals, Hawaiian leis, obnoxious overpriced gift shop attire, and of course, the beloved bucket hat/fanny pack combo.

Tuesday 10/27 & Wednesday 10/28: Senior Dress up Day/Blackout

Though many senior traditions have been altered and/or lost to Covid, the all-time most exciting spirit week theme of Senior Dress up Day still stands. The senior class will explore their creative side and come to school dressed as TV and movie characters, celebrities, and whatever else they can imagine.

To ensure the impressive efforts of the senior costumes are displayed to the fullest extent, underclassmen will dress in black from head to toe.

Thursday 10/29 & Friday 10/30: Slaters Slam the Knights

It’s all about that Slater spirit! For this newly named, yet classic, spirit day, Slaters are being called to dress in as much Slater gear as possible. Nothing is more stylish than the Slater mascot against a gorgeous maroon. Look good, feel good Slaters; let’s beat the Knights!
