SLATER SPOTLIGHT: ANJALI SAREEN
May 18, 2021
How many years have you been a Bangor Slater?
My whole life! I’ve been at Bangor since kindergarten.
Where do you plan to attend college and what will you be studying? What do you want to do as a future career?
I am committed to California State University at Long Beach. I am a design major and hope to one day be a graphic, web, or product designer!
List the sports, activities, clubs, etc. you did while you were at Bangor High School.
I was a varsity cheerleader in the fall and winter and held a captain position, I pole vaulted for our track team every spring season, I held office in Student Government and Class Cabinet and did both for all four years. I have also been inducted in National Honor Society and French Honor Society. Alongside these, I was in SADD club and Leo Club. I also did some community service through our school. Additionally, I was also a proud member of the Slater band for about seven years!
What three positive words would your friends use to describe you?
Hardworking, free-spirited, and independent.
Who will you remember most in Bangor and why?
There are lots of people who made an impact on me here, so it is difficult to choose just one. I will definitely remember my coaches and my four-year teachers in particular.
What is your best high school memory and why?
One of my best high school memories has to be cheerleading. Not only was it a huge part of my every day, all year long, but nothing beat the feeling of cheering and bringing our whole community together. The energy and vibe were unmatched 🙂
What is your worst high school memory and why?
My worst memory was probably having to wake up so early in the morning; it was pretty brutal.
Which band could play the soundtrack to your high school career and why?
I can’t think of a band but an artist that could play the soundtrack of my high school career would have to be Khalid – you know, American Teen and all.
If there were a movie or TV show made about your high school days, which actor would play your part and why?
Without a doubt, Alexa Demie.
When you arrive at school in the morning, where is the first place you want to go and why? Â
Probably homeroom just because I always made it right on time.
Who influenced you most during high school and why?
My brother Akash – he always brought a specific kind of energy into school and even when we weren’t together, he has always pushed me to be the best version of myself and always had my back.
Where do you predict you’ll end up ten years from now and why?
Somewhere under the sun, finding my bliss. I think I will be working in a field that I love and finding success in my every day.
Which event, events will you miss the most and why?
Friday night football games and school dances – both had a carefree true high school feeling to it and it would be hard to find elsewhere.
What is your favorite quote to live by and why?
“Remember, be here now,” – Ram Dass. I think this is my favorite quote as there is undeniable value in being present in every moment.
