Fernandez counting his goals

Brandon Fernandez, a math enthusiast, is set to attend East Stroudsburg University and major in accounting this fall.
“I’m excited to attend ESU because it’s a school that is constantly getting better and it’s not too far from home,” Fernandez said. “I liked how diverse and friendly the students and staff are; it made me feel like I’ve been there for a while already.”
Fernandez is excited to major in accounting because it will help him to achieve his goals for the future.
“My main goal is to graduate college and to get a good job that will allow me and my family to live a happy and fulfilling life,” Fernandez said.
Fernandez plans on having a successful career where he can move up to more challenging and rewarding positions.
“I believe that me being able to speak two languages will allow me to help more people. I aim to be open and help others 24/7 and to not be shy or unapproachable,” Fernandez said.
After Fernandez took the personal finance class taught by Mrs. Kopp, he became interested in accounting specifically.
“Many teachers recommended accounting so I decided to look into it and really liked the field. A career involving math is really the only career choice I could picture myself being in,” Fernandez said.
While many family members have supported him, Fernandez’s mother has been his biggest role model and supporter throughout high school.
“My mother is a strong woman who never gives up, no matter what. She would do anything for my siblings and I. She has taught me that life won’t be easy at times but that doesn’t mean that I should give up,” Fernandez said.
A teacher that has also influenced Fernandez most during his four years at Bangor Area High School is Dr. Martinez.
“Since freshman year she been kind and honest to me. She has had many tough obstacles in her life to overcome, but she has remained strong and never gave up. She showed me that even when the worst happens to you, you can always find the bright side,” Fernandez said.
Dr. Martinez remembers fondly of having Brandon in her French classes.
“No matter how much Brandon loved to joke around in class, he was always kind-spirited and got his work done. He literally made me laugh every day,” Dr. Martinez said.
With senior year coming to a close, Fernandez remains excited to see where life takes him and about the future.
