SLATER SPOTLIGHT: LILIANA RUGH

Daniela Safieva, Reporter

Funny, creative and social senior Liliana Rugh has a passion for art and plans to go to college to major in digital art. Rugh has made many friends and memories throughout her high school years and will cherish them for a lifetime!

What are your favorite classes?

Drawing and painting, biology, horticulture, and agriculture. I love art and nature, so all of these classes are in my field of interests.

What do you hope to study?

I plan on going to college for a major in digital art and possibly a minor in wildlife biology.
I want to create comics or graphic novels of my own and I hope to make a career out of it. I also plan on possibly getting a side job as a volunteer at animal/wildlife shelters.

Describe, in detail, your ideal life 10 years from now.

I wish to have a decent sized house, get married, have one kid, and a ton of pets. I hope to be a popular media artist online and inspire other creative people with my art, to possibly help them come up with ideas for their own art projects.

What is your best high school memory?

That’s tough, it’s either my first kiss with my boyfriend or prom. My boyfriend and I have been together for little over 4 years now and I absolutely love and adore him. As for prom, it was amazing, dancing with my friends and boyfriend was awesome.

Which band could play the soundtrack to your high school career?

Imagine Dragons or The Score! Those two bands give me the motivation I need to get my day started. Their songs make me feel like I’m on the top of the world and that I can do anything.

If there were a movie made about your high school days, what would be the title and which actor would play your part?

Ok, I’m not great with movie actor names, so I have no idea who would play as me.
But as for a title, it would probably be: “Welcome to My Life.” The title just makes sense.

Which event/events will you miss the most?

The school dances and proms, it will be hard when I go to college because most likely none of my high school friends will be there.

Who is your biggest mentor?

I have a few actually, Mr. Thomas, Miss Molinaro, and Mrs. Finkbeiner. I’ve had these teachers’ multiple times and I’ve grown strong bonds with them.
Mr. Thomas was not only my biology teacher, but also my homeroom teacher for the last 4 years.
I’ve taken every drawing and painting class with Miss Molinaro, and she has helped me a lot with improving my art, which will help me with my future art career.
I’ve had Mrs. Finkbeiner 3 times, I love plants and animals, plus she just makes learning fun.

What is your favorite quote to live by?

I have 2:
Live, laugh, love – a quote my mom uses often and now I use it.
Every second is a gift – a quote from my dad, saying that every second of life is special.

Who will you remember most in Bangor?

Sara Rambo and Crystal Kately, my 2 closest and very best friends. They’ve been with me through everything and I’m very lucky to have them.
Lilian Smith and Michael , they’re good friends of mine and my boyfriend, Zachary Wilgus.
Lucas Gerhart, my boyfriend’s cousin, who helped Zach and I get together in the first place.
