Loyal, charismatic, and supportive senior Grace Deeney will go to college for a nursing degree, and then become an RN (registered nurse). Grace has been an outgoing student here at Bangor with participation in tennis, Leo Club, Treble Choir, Slater Chorale, and the musicals!
What are your favorite classes? What was it about these classes that thrilled you?
My favorite class is Slater Chorale, as I can sing all kinds of music and made many friends there. Delaney is a friend I met there, we have been friends since freshman year thanks to choir, and music that has kept us connected. This is a full-year course that I auditioned to get into. Another favorite class of mine sculpture with Mrs. Molinaro. It was an enjoyable break in my day where you get to create different projects with paper, paper mache, and macho man. I was able to talk with my friends at my table while creating something pretty.
What are your plans after high school (college, military, career path, etc.)? What do you hope to study? What career(s) appeals to you? Why?
I plan on going to college for nursing and becoming an RN (registered nurse). I will use this degree to become a travel nurse and explore the US. This career appeals to me because I’ll be able to meet and help a bunch of different people around the US. I hope to make a difference in people’s lives.
Describe, in detail, your ideal life 10 years from now.
In 10 years from now, I plan on working on the east coast as a year-round RN with my husband, I would like to have a house, either by the lake or ocean. My dream house would have a rustic exterior with a lot of windows and skylights. I’ll have a German Shepherd named Chester and possibly be starting a family. I would love to have a brand-new light blue convertible that I would take to the beach on my days off. My dream vacation would be to Thailand to see the elephants and monkeys and experience the culture.
What is your best high school memory and why?
My best high school memory has to be the 2022 choir Disney trip. We went in late April when I was a sophomore in high school. This was a 4-day trip where we went and sang for a choir competition in which we won 3rd place. After we sang, we went to 3 parks which were Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studio, and Epcot. My favorite one was Magical Kingdom because there were a bunch of rides, and we got frozen lemonades that were delicious!
If there were a movie made about your high school days, what would be the title, and which actor would play your part? Why?
The title would be “What’s Next?” because throughout high school I tried different things and after high school, I will try more new things. Debby Ryan would play my part because she is mysterious, and an icon to look up to.
Which event/events will you miss the most and why?
I will miss the musicals because they are so fun to do and I have been doing them for 6 years. It was amazing when my friend Delaney and I did it together this year as Gretchen and Karen. We improved not only our friendship but also our acting and singing skills. I will miss this immensely.
Which artist could play the soundtrack to your high school career and why?
The artist who could play the soundtrack to my high school career would be Noah Kahan because his music is chill. Just like me in high school!
What is your favorite quote to live by and why?
My favorite quote to live by is: “Don’t spend too much time today thinking about yesterday,” because you can’t change what happened yesterday so there is no need to focus on what happened yesterday today.
Who will you remember most in Bangor (shoutout to a friend(s)) and why?
I will remember my best friend Montanna Weidman because we have been friends since 4th grade, and she has been a huge part of my high school experience. We’ve only had a few classes together, but they were the most memorable classes because we were in them together.
Who is your biggest mentor (shoutout to a teacher/coach)? Why?
My biggest mentor is Mr. DiMinico because I think he has prepared me the most for the real world. He has also provided a lot of opportunities for me to grow as an individual and a singer.
What activities (sports, clubs, jobs) have you done throughout your high school career?
I participated in tennis, Leo club, Treble Choir, the musicals, and Slater Chorale. I also worked at Chick-fil-A during my junior year and babysat during my senior year.
Which of these activities is your favorite and why? What was/is your position in the activity? Why did this activity matter to you so much? List any accomplishments. (Feel free to answer with more than one activity; please specify)
My favorite activity would be the musicals because I can hang around a fun group of people and my hard work always pays off when we have a great show. In my first few years of participating in the musical I was in an ensemble, and my senior year I got a lead as Karen in Mean Girls. This activity matters to me because I spend a lot of time at rehearsals and work hard to put on a great show.
