Outgoing, hardworking, and kind-hearted Mya Bartosh will be attending Northampton community college to pursue a career in culinary arts.
Who is your favorite teacher/class at Bangor?
My favorite classes that I have taken at Bangor area high school through my four years would have to be environmental science with Mr. Thomas and agriculture with Mrs. Finkbeiner. I enjoyed these classes the most because I thought the teachers cared about what they taught and how they taught the class. They enjoyed seeing success through their students and what they have taught them. I have always loved learning about nature and everything that goes into it.
What are your plans after college?
What I plan to do after high school is to study culinary arts at Northampton community college in hopes of becoming a chef at some point. Cooking is something I have always enjoyed because I love to see the joy and happiness food brings to people and how it even brings people together.
What is favorite meal to cook?
My favorite meal to cook would have to be a New York strip steak dinner that includes a twice baked potato with a side of garlic butter glazed green beans. With a homemade New York style gram cracker crumb bottom cheesecake and to top it off with a black berry jam. The reason why I enjoy cooking this meal is because it brings multiple flavors all together and it takes me back to my childhood. The dish is something my mom would always make for us, and it was something we were always thankful to see on our dining room table after a long day.
Where would you like to travel?
A place I would love to travel to would be Japan. The reason for this is because it is part of my heritage, and I would love to see where my great grandmother grew up. I have also always wanted to go snowboarding in the back country because Japan can average 50 feet of snow per year.
What is the most exciting place you have visited?
The most exciting adventure I have been on would be traveling across the country in a motorhome with my family in 2019. We went to many national parks and explored so many different and unique places. One of my favorites stops we made was Lake Tahoe California. The lake was crystal clear, and you could see all the way to the bottom. Another part of the trip that was my favorite was driving up the Oregon Coast. Seeing all the different sea life and meeting so many cool people.
Where would you like to live one day? And why?
The place where I would want to live most would have to be Utah. There are many places to explore with many people to meet. I have always liked Utah and its diverse landscapes all over. Utah also has many ski resorts to snowboard and averages 50 feet of snow a year. I feel Utah is a well-rounded state overall to start a family.
