Hi I’m Katie, I’m a freshman, I play tennis, and I love to cook and bake! I will be doing a cooking column weekly where I will feature a fun and easy recipe for you to try out.

In today’s column, let’s figure out how to make your weekend mornings a little better.

It’s a nice, breezy, lazy Sunday morning. Your stomach growls for something tasty to eat, but you’re too tired to make anything too difficult. So, what’s the perfect breakfast recipe that’s easy to make and delicious? Surprisingly, french toast bagels.

How to make French Toast Bagels:

Ingredients:
5 Thomas Bagels (in any flavor, I used cinnamon raisin bagels)
½ a cup of of unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
½ of milk or cream
¼ cup of maple syrup
¼ cup of granulated sugar
¼ cup of light brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
2 teaspoon of cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt, or taste

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with Pam and set aside.
2. Add the eggs, milk, maple syrup, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, melted butter, and salt into a bowl. Whisk until all the ingredients are combined.
3. Add the bagels and toss lightly to coat. I added the bagels a little bit each time I tossed, because it was much easier than tossing them all together.
4. Allow the mixture to soak for at least 5 to 10 minutes, only stirring once or twice, letting the bagels to soak up the coating.
5. Put the bagels onto the baking pan, and drizzle any leftover coating mixture on the bagels.
6. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the middle is set and has dried out. Try not to over bake it or else it will be crispy, instead of soft and mushy.
7. Add any kind of syrup to these delicious bagels, and enjoy!
