Q: My boyfriend and I have only been dating for two months, and I have no idea what to get him for Christmas… help.

Well, without being able to exchange gifts, the –mas in Christmas is nearly non-existent.

Let’s face it, no two people are the same, and there is not enough time to discern what he may or may not enjoy. However, there is an option that may still be on the table.

This option hails from Greece some 2000 years ago. You may know the man—Socrates. Though a hermit turned philosopher, he introduced to the world this thing called Inductive Reasoning.

Inductive Reasoning, basically, is the concept where, if you have a pool of data, you can draw conclusions from them. For example, if you know that, say, a student studies for thirty minutes every day and has gotten great grades so far, it can be assumed that they will continue to get good grades.

In this case, let’s call him Bob, Bob may enjoy movies, and go see movies at the local theatre. He does this at the same time, every Friday. Logically speaking, the best present for Bob isn’t something wrapped with a bow, but some time spent doing activities that he enjoys.

In this case, finding a gift for ‘Bob’ is as easy as putting on Netflix, and watching it into the early morning.

I have a few tips that will help you come up with a simple, yet thoughtful gift for that honey of yours.

Due to the time crunch with it being so close to Christmas, make sure that the gift is either Amazon Prime shipping or an item that can be bought at a store. If you’re running low on cash, handmade gifts are the key to the heart… it shows that you care enough to take the time to make something that your boyfriend will like.

At this point, if I were you, I would head on over to Hobby Lobby and buy a picture frame that you can personalize, and put your favorite picture with him in. Also, CANDY, CANDY, CANDY… everyone loves some type of it. Getting him some of his favorite candy and wrapping it up with a cute bow will put a smile on both his face and belly.

Either way, the holidays are about spending time with those that mean the most to you, so don’t let the stress of buying gifts distract you from simply being with him.
