Senior standout Hunter Kish has been a productive, dedicated athlete for 10 years and counting. Bangor spectators are impressed with his evident talent involving cross country, basketball, and track.

Kish has ran cross country for five years reached his personal goal of breaking 17 minutes this past season; finishing 3.1 miles (5k) at Wilson with 16:33 minutes.

“That was my goal since freshmen year, and becoming a top runner was definitely a great feeling,” Kish said. “Hard work really pays off!”

Running his last cross country season as a Slater, Kish made his final moments unforgettable.

“Joining cross country was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made because I wouldn’t trade this team for the world,” Kish said. “I enjoyed being with my team every single day. It’s like a family setting and there was never a dull moment.”

In addition to excelling in running, Kish also plays center and power forward on the varsity basketball team, and his dilligent work ethic has been displayed for the past ten years.

“My favorite position is center just because it’s a never ending battle,” Kish said. “Centers don’t get a lot of recongnition because they don’t do all of the flashy moves, but without them, it would be pretty hard to win.”

Overall, Kish is a competitive player with high expectations. He’s very excited and hopeful for the upcoming season.

“My prediction for this year’s basketball programs is a District Championship and hopefully a deep run into states. We have the talent and a hardworking group of individuals that it takes to win a state championship,” Kish said.

Kish’s accomplishments throughout high school have shaped him into the great athlete he is today, and he will take this incredible ethic with him to college.

“I plan on running cross country in college and I might try out for the basketball program if I am not too busy,” Kish said.

After graduation, Kish plans to attend Northampton Community College (NCC) and then transfer to East Stroudsburg University (ESU) to major in sports management.

“I love sports and I want to learn the business aspect of the four major sports in our country,” Kish said.

As he completes high schol, Kish will pursue his dreams and continue to set high expectations for himself in future years.
