Jones inks lucrative deal with park basketball team

The Bangor Park Adult Summer League continues to collect a plethora of talent as first team Colonial League selection Reece Jones joins the association playing for the Liberty Fire Company.
The three-point deadeye will join the ranks of former Slater alumni who have had tremendous success in the league such as Andy Mulitsch, Michael Martino, Jeremy Ringland, and 2013 Colonial League MVP Alex Colton. The agglomeration of local talent on this team will surely make them a threat to cut down the nets at the Historic Bangor Park front court.
“It will be fun playing with those guys in an organized league because I’ve only been able to play with them in open gyms and pickup games,” Jones said.
Over the past two seasons, the sharpshooter has integrated himself into the park basketball scene by operating the scoreboard and recording stats of some of the finest basketball players around. Working under former Slater standout Eric Striba, Jones has learned the ins and outs of the league and will surely make a huge impact in his inaugural season.
“It’s truly an honor to be able to play in the coveted Bangor park summer league against legends such as the Black brothers, Michael Htlaky, and Jimmy McNair,” Jones said.
Although Jones will be one of the youngest players in the league, the Ray Allen-esque Jones has championship DNA and knows what it takes to fulfill his teams dreams of winning a championship. The highly sought after rookie’s accolades include 1st and 2nd team Colonial League, along with winning three straight Colonial League titles and breaking the school record for three pointers. Jones will join a deadly backcourt with Andy Mulitsch whose three-point record was snatched by the senior.
Unlike many other great players, Jones has intangibles that are unmatched. Due to Jones’ success on the court and in the classroom, he was recently named the VIA Scholar Athlete of the Year.
In addition to the insurmountable success that Jones has accomplished on the basketball court, the senior may be even better on the diamond. As a four-year varsity starter under Coach Hartman, the sure-handed first basemen was a driving force in leading the Slaters to their first Colonial League Championship in over thirty years.
As Jones is prepared to close the book on an illustrious high school career, the senior has decided to take his talents to Lancaster County where he will be playing baseball for the Elizabethtown Blue Jays.
There is no doubt that Jones will forever go down as one of the greatest Bangor athletes of all-time, and possibly a Bangor Park legend.
