Academically motivated athlete Ciarrah Holmqvist will be furthering her education at DeSales University where she will also be continuing her softball career.

From the time you first started playing sports, how many have you participated in?

                I started with gymnastics, but shortly after I began soccer, basketball, and softball. I began participating in sports at the age of four.

What are all of your sport achievements?

                For soccer I achieved second most career assists and for softball I made first team All-Area 2016 and second team All-State 2016.

What sparked your interest in sports?

                My parents played a lot of sports when they were younger so they signed me up for as many sports as they could.

What is the best memory you had from playing sports?

                My favorite memory was the softball bus ride home after winning districts.

What sport means the most to you and why?

                Softball means the most to me because I will be continuing my softball career in college and it has given me many friendships that I will value for the rest of my life.

What life lesson have you learned through sports?

                I’ve learned that time management is key to being successful on the field and in the classroom.

Why is DeSales best fit for you?

                DeSales University is nationally known for their physician assistant program which is the main reason why I am going there. It’s only a bonus that I’m going to be playing softball there as well.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

                In 10 years I see myself as a pediatric physician assistant with a husband and a cute little house.

What was your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment is graduating high school with twelve varsity letters.

What will you be studying in college?

                I will be studying biology for four years which will lead me into a two-year physician assistant program.

What made you interested in studying that?

I wanted to become a physician assistant because they are given more benefits than nurses and I wouldn’t have to pay extra for insurance like doctors have to.

What is your favorite sport and why?

                My favorite sport is softball because I enjoy the competition and the friendships I’ve made through the sport.

What is your favorite sports team?

I don’t really have a favorite sports team, but I love watching college softball.

What is one sport you’ve never tried but would consider learning?

Lacrosse is an intense sport and I would consider learning it.

What does the term “student athlete” mean to you?

                To me, a student athlete is being able to balance good grades and competing on the field at the same time.

How do you prepare in the offseason?

I go to the gym and train with my sports teams in the offseason.
