DEAR SENIORS

GG Murgia, Editor

After 13 years of wondering when you were ever going to become a senior, the time has finally come. The endless “last first…” posts have begun and you’re just now realizing that you are in fact a senior. It may be overwhelming, but no need to worry because there are ways to make sure that you leave Bangor High without a single regret.

Challenge yourself in academics

With 12 years of schooling behind you, it’s hard to find motivation to do well in school this year; especially after an extremely tough junior year. You may be sitting in AP Government right now asking yourself why in the world you chose to take the class in the first place.

“The hardest class I’m taking this year is AP Government. Social Studies has never been a strong suit of mine and in this class you have to retain a lot of information,” senior Anne Wallace said.

Even though you may be worn out from the copious amount of schoolwork, don’t be. Now is the time to challenge yourself and take hard classes. Not only will your GPA skyrocket, but putting in all your hard work will make this school year go by even faster.

Be a role model in sports

For a lot of athletes, the past few years you’ve spent on a team consisted of you sitting in the shadows of senior athletes. Now, it’s your time to show your team and school all that you have to offer.

“I always try to play my hardest and give it everything that I have to set an example for the other girls,” senior tennis captain Bailey Andreeko said. “If they see that I’m trying my hardest, whether it be at practice or in a match, they will too and that will help us succeed as a team.”

You’re not only expected to perform well for your team, but be a great leader for the underclassmen as well. Be the helpful senior that you wish mentored you as an underclassman, because captain or not, you’re still looked up to as a role model.

Go to all of the dances

It’s definitely not your first rodeo for all of the dances the school has to offer, however, it is your last. Yes, you may have opportunities for dances and banquets at college, but no other place is going to have haybales as decorations.

“I love the decorations that are at the dances,” senior Katie Lasher said. “You can definitely tell that SGA puts a lot of time and effort into making sure that the dances look nice.”

So, if you’re sitting there debating whether or not you want to go to homecoming this year, stop fretting over it and just go. Ask the person you’ve been dying to ask since you were a freshman or go with a group of your friends. Either way make sure to make the most of your night because you never know when you will get the chance to dance to the ‘Cotton Eyed Joe’ again. In the end, it’s better to have a memory than not have one at all.
