Hardworking, creative, and passionate senior Olivia Lemak plans to complete her hours at Metro Beauty Academy and work in a salon after high school. Throughout her time at Bangor, she has been involved in field hockey, CIT, and SGA while building confidence through new experiences and meaningful connections.
What activity has meant the most to you and why?
Helping with the elementary field day for SGA has meant the most to me. It gave me the chance to connect with younger kids and be a positive role model. It was really rewarding to help make the day fun and memorable for them.
Describe a specific moment or memory from that activity.
One of my favorite memories from that activity was playing capture the flag at field day with the younger kids. Running around while they all tried to get me was so fun, and it was one of those moments where everyone was just laughing and having a good time.
What is one challenge you faced and how did you handle it?
One challenge I faced was improving my skills in field hockey, especially when I felt like I wasn’t playing as well as I wanted to. It was hard to start a new sport as a sophomore, but instead of getting discouraged, I kept practicing, listened to my coach, and stayed consistent. Over time, I saw improvement and felt more confident.
What is your best high school memory and why?
One of my best memories from high school was when we beat Northwestern in field hockey. It was a really intense game, and everyone was giving 110%. When we finally won, the energy and excitement from the team was unforgettable.
If a movie were made about your life, what would it be called and who would play you? Why?
My movie would be called “In Between Everything,” and I’d want McKenna Grace to play me because she can show both vulnerability and strength and really capture what it’s like growing through tough moments.
Who is someone who had a big impact on you and why?
Someone who has had a big impact on me is my parents, they’ve always supported me no matter what. They’ve helped me stay strong through tough times and showed me the importance of not giving up.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I see myself hopefully married with kids and working in a salon, creating a life I enjoy while doing something I love and helping others feel their best.
Is there anything else you’d like people to know about you?
I’d want people to know that it’s okay to not have everything figured out, and that doesn’t mean you should give up on yourself. I’ve learned how important it is to keep going, even when things are hard.
